4 Things to Do Everyday for Your Skin

Healthy, glowing skin is the result of daily habits

1. Wear a broad spectrum SPF: Wearing a sunscreen every day is one of the best things you can do to maintain youthful skin. Exposure to UVA and UVB rays is the biggest contributor to premature aging. PCA SKIN® recommends applying a broad spectrum sunscreen of at least 30 SPF to protect from all types of UV damage. Ninety-five percent of the UV exposure the average person receives is able to pass through clouds, glass and clothes (which means you need sunscreen even on cloudy days or on days where you’ll be sitting in an office all day). All PCA SKIN broad spectrum sunscreen products are formulated so they virtually disappear upon application; you’ll hardly know they are there.

2. Wash off your day: We’re all guilty of skipping this important step before going to bed. Removing all of the makeup, dirt, and excess oils we accumulate throughout the day is essential to keeping your skin clean, so it can focus on repairing itself. A good cleanser will do all of this in one step. It’s important to choose a cleanser suited for your skin type and concerns. For those with acne, we recommend a cleanser with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, while those with drier skin should opt for a lighter, creamier formula

3. Stay hydrated: Dehydrated skin can look dry and tired. Drinking 64 ounces of water in a day helps keep our bodies hydrated and balanced. But keeping your skin hydrated is a two-fold process. Drinking water keeps skin protected from the inside, but you also have to use a topical moisturizer to protect your skin from outside elements. All skin types (yes, even oily, acneic skin) need to use a moisturizer to keep skin balanced and looking its best.

4. Get your beauty sleep: Not getting enough sleep actually ages your skin. Lack of sleep causes puffiness, dark circles under the eyes, visible dryness and increased wrinkling. It’s not just the amount of sleep that affects skin health, but also the quality. While you sleep, your skin renews itself and collagen production is accelerated (more collagen means firmer skin and fewer wrinkles). If the body doesn’t go into this repair mode, damaged cells accumulate, causing skin to age faster. Six to eight hours of uninterrupted sleep a night is recommended to allow the body to properly renew itself. The well-rested not only feel better, but also preserve their youthful glow longer!
